Please feel free to keep up to date with some cool things that we will be doing in class through the use of my twitter (bird icon)!
Welcome to the lab! First, let me introduce myself. My name is Kristen Schultz and I am going to be the computer education teacher at both Neil Armstrong and Sieden Prairie Elementary Schools for the 2020-2021 school year!
A little about my education and experiences:
I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University in December of 2015. I am certified through the state of Illinois to teach self-contained general education for grades K-9. Throughout the past few years, I have taken classes through my local junior college to further my education and earned more credits in the technology field. I look forward to using my knowledge to ignite excitement and foster learning. Through out my career, I have always found myself working in a field that included interacting with kids of all ages. My journey with my career began about 4 years ago, I held a paraprofessional position at Jack Hille Middle School in Oak Forest where I worked one on one with students in grades 6-8. That following year, I began teaching technology to 1st through 5th grade students. 3 and a 1/2 years later, here I am teaching K-5 Technology in a new and exciting district! In the past, I have also been a lead day camp counselor for the city of Romeoville at the Romeoville Recreation Center for 6 years. Through out these experiences, I have gained insight and knowledge into what it takes to be a good role model. Through my education, I have studied and applied various learning strategies and techniques to help guide the students in their path of knowledge and discovery. I truly look forward to working with your children and applying these strategies to see their minds as well as themselves grow.
A little bit more about me:
I am 26 years old and a part of a family of 4. I am a triplet with my 2 other sisters. I am truly proud of their accomplishments and wish them nothing but happiness going forward. My sister Michele recently obtained her doctorate in Physical Therapy from UIC in Chicago and has been working as a licensed therapist at React Physical Therapy in the West Loop. My other sister Lauren is a medical resident at Indiana University-Indianapolis obtaining her doctorate in family medicine. She is working at all the hospitals in the area. As for my father, he is a DePaul graduate with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He has worked for Turtle Wax Inc. for over 37 years. He started off as a chemist in the lab but after years of dedication, is now the Senior Vice President of Product and Development.
I am very excited to be here. I know that times will be challenging, but I look forward to tackling on this year with your amazing kids! Please feel free to reach out to me if you ever have any questions or concerns.
Wishing you all a great year!
